Dr Philip McGraw is an orthopaedic and trauma surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Parkway East Hospital, Singapore.

In addition to general orthopaedic and trauma surgery, he has special interests in the management of all aspects of hip and knee conditions.

Dr McGraw was a senior consultant at the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and a consultant at Alexandra Hospital.

After graduating from the University of Manchester, UK, he completed his training as an orthopaedic surgeon in the northwest region of England. He undertook two fellowships in hip and knee surgery at Wrightington Hospital. He was appointed a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Bury & North Manchester General Hospitals.

While in Singapore, he was the divisional head of hip and knee surgery and an assistant professor at the National University of Singapore. During his time there, he was instrumental in the integrated care pathways for both total hip and total knee replacement. He was on the national committee looking at the delivery of elective hip and knee surgeries, and was appointed by the National University Hospital to sit on the clinical ethics committee. He was also appointed by the Ministry of Health to sit on the transplant ethics committee.

Dr McGraw has hosted international lectures and workshops teaching surgical techniques to orthopaedic residents, and has served as an examiner for medical undergraduates and post-graduate orthopaedic trainees. He has published scholarly articles in international peer-reviewed journals, and undertook presentations at international conferences.

He is a member of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association, British Orthopaedic Association and British Hip Society.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, he volunteered during the weekend providing medical care to foreign workers at their dormitories.
