Dr Stanley Liew is an endocrinologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
His areas of specialty include diabetes, thyroid and lipid disorders, weight management, osteoporosis, adrenal and pituitary disorders, and other endocrine disorders.
He was the former medical director at a private hospital and the managing partner of a private hospital’s diabetes and endocrine centre. He also headed the diabetes clinic and headed and started the weight management programme at the National University Hospital (NUH).
Dr Liew graduated from the University College London Medical School and continued his medical training in the UK. He later pursued subspecialty training in endocrinology at NUH and the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, UK.
At a private hospital, he held several leadership roles including chairman of the pharmacy and therapeutics committee, chairman of the transplant committee, co-chairman of the quality committee, and vice-chairman of the accreditation and credentialing committee. He has been practising medicine for more than 25 years.
Dr Liew is the current president of the Endocrine and Metabolic Society of Singapore, president of the Federation of Endocrine Societies of Asia and Oceania, and the immediate past president of the Singapore Association for the Study of Obesity. He was a board member of the Chapter of Endocrinologists, College of Physicians, Singapore.
He was also involved in research in diabetes and has published in several peer-reviewed scientific journals. He has promoted the advocacy and awareness of diabetes and its complications, and has presented at various international and regional endocrine meetings. In 2017, he was a recipient of the Service Excellence Award.
